Medicare Supplement Plan A

If you want more coverage than is offered by basic Medicare, but you do not anticipate using too many health care services, then Medicare Supplement Plan A could be right for you. In this plan you do not have to worry about paying for things you won’t use, but there could be other costs that creep up occasionally. Medicare Supplement Plan A provides for the following:

  • Hospitalization: The plan will pay Part A coinsurance plus coverage for the 365 days following the end of Medicare benefits
  • Medical Expenses: The plan covers Part B coinsurance (usually about 20 percent of Medicare approved expenses) and co-payments related to outpatient service
  • Blood: The plan will cover the first three pints of blood in any year.
